Tasmania Skilled Migration State Nomination Program – Interim Allocation Update (2025–26)

Today, we bring you the latest update from Migration Tasmania regarding the Skilled Migration State Nomination Program for 2025–26—an important update for skilled professionals planning to migrate to Australia.

Interim Nomination Allocation

The Australian Government has provided states and territories with a small interim allocation of skilled visa nomination places, pending confirmation of the full allocation for 2025–26.

For Tasmania, the interim allocation includes 165 places in total:

85 places for Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated visa)
80 places for Subclass 491 (Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa)

The final allocation for 2025–26 will be announced in the coming weeks.

How Interim Places Will Be Used

Since the allocation is limited, it will only be used to confirm nominations for applicants who were provisionally approved in 2024–25 but could not be nominated before places ran out.

Subclass 491: All provisionally approved 491 applicants will be nominated.
Subclass 190: With more than 85 approved applicants, priority will go to those already in Australia, whose visas expire soonest, or those currently holding a Bridging visa.
Remaining applicants have been notified and will be nominated once Tasmania receives its full allocation for 2025–26.

Program Opening for 2025–26

The Tasmanian Skilled Migration State Nomination Program is not yet open to new registrations of interest. Further details, including opening dates and selection policies, will be published by Migration Tasmania in the coming weeks.
